Stonehaven Care Village opened with 60 bed care home and 8 single storey dwellings built by Morrison Construction Services for Aberdeenshire Council. NorDan supplied top of the range aluminium clad windows, screens and composite entrance doors.

The £6.7 million project replaces the former Edenholm residential home. The cottages were part funded by the Scottish Government. "It was important that we were involved at the early design stage of this project to assist our client in planning the window and screen designs. With our technical input to the design, our client was able to maximise the sustainability of this building using low U-values in the glazing options and designing in as much natural light as possible to the care home building", says Gordon Mitchell, regional director at NorDan's Aberdeen office.

NorDan manufactured double glazed aluminium clad windows, doors, screens and prefinished NTech 1.2 tilt and turn windows, with a U-value of 1.2w/m2k, for the care home, and pre finished NTech 1.2 tilt and turn timber windows and entrance doorsets for the cottages. The composite doors have a U-value of 1.2w/m2K and are manufactured in NorDans BorDorren factory in Sweden.

Project management was provided by Aberdeenshire Council Infrastructure Services, and the structural engineers were Fairhurst.
